PARABOLOID HOUSE

THE NATURAL TOPOGRAPHY OF THIS SITE PRESENTED SEVERAL SMALL HILLS, ONE NEXT TO THE OTHER, WHICH INSPIRED THE DESIGNERS TO CREATE CURVED PARABOLOID ROOFS RESEMBLING ORGANIC GEOMETRY AND CREATING A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH ITS SURROUNDING CONTEXT LINES. WOODEN LOUVERED WALLS AND SLIDING DOORS ALLOW NATURAL VENTILATION AND ILLUMINATION, AND A SLIGHT CHANGE OF LEVEL BETWEEN SOCIAL AND PRIVATE AREAS TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE TOPOGRAPHIC NATURAL CONDITIONS. LOCATED ON THE MOUNTAINS OF MALPAIS, COSTA RICA, WITH AN AMAZING VIEW OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN, THIS HOUSE WAS MADE BY LOCAL LABOUR AND LOCAL MATERIALS, GENERATING A SUSTAINABLE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CONTEXT.
